Greetings Outlook Customers,Welcome to Outlook News, the new newsletter for ITS Outlook email customers. In this newsletter you will find: News and Updates
News & Updates:Exchange 2003 Upgrade Begins May 6th We are pleased to announce the rollout of Exchange Server 2003 with enhanced server hardware. The process of upgrading customer accounts will begin on Thursday, May 6th, and take approximately 10 days to complete. Accounts will be migrated during the night, from 11 PM to 5 AM. You will be notified which night your account will be scheduled for upgrade, during which time your account will be unavailable. This upgrade is the first step in expanding the ITS Outlook/Exchange system as a replacement for "ITSA" as the UCSF campus email system. Of the many Exchange Server 2003 enhancements, the significantly upgraded Outlook Web Access (OWA) client is worth noting. We are very impressed with the functionality added to the new OWA interface - on the Windows platform - and think you will be, too. Customer Support Coordinator Joins the ITS Outlook / Exchange TeamAs part of the expansion of the ITS-hosted Outlook/Exchange e-mail system we are pleased to announce the addition of a dedicated Exchange Customer Support Coordinator; Mark Bering. Mark's primary responsibility is focusing on customer support issues directly related to the Exchange email system, including enhanced customer communication. Many of you may already know Mark, who worked at the ITS Customer Support Center for nearly four years before joining the Exchange team in February. Outlook Tips:Add some zip to the background of your emails. What's your desktop background? Is it monochromatic or a colorful chaos? Whatever it is, I'm sure it's not just plain white, and the background of your emails doesn't have to be either.
If you'd like something that's more "you", here's how to add a background image to a message in Outlook (provided that you do not use Word for editing emails): Make it easy to send mail to the same person frequently. Create a desktop shortcut that will open a blank, pre-addressed message that is ready for you to send.
Your feedback is needed! Are you as excited by the features of the Outlook / Exchange system as we are? Are you finding the support provided by the ITS Exchange team effective in improving your work life and productivity? Please take a moment and send your comments and suggestions to to Mark Bering. With best regards, The ITS Exchange 2003 Team: Kraig Kluba
