Service Description
Security & Policy (S&P) provides a suite of client security tools to UCSF faculty, staff, and students. These tools include Symantec Endpoint Protection, FDE (formerly Pointsec) encryption and PGP encryption.

Using Security Tools
Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP)
Symantec Endpoint Protection is an enterprise level client security application. For Windows computers, SEP provides anti-virus (AV), anti-spyware, intrusion prevention (IPS), proactive threat scanning, and host-based firewall solution in one simple application. For MacOS X computers, SEP provides anti-virus (AV) and anti-malware. Once the client is installed on your computer, the centralized UCSF ITS SEP servers automatically push updates to the clients as they become available from Symantec with no user interaction required.
FDE Encryption (Formerly Pointsec)
FDE provides whole disk encryption for Windows computer. Whole disk encryption is a solution for protecting all data on an entire desktop or laptop by securing disk contents, including system and temporary files, automatically safeguarding sensitive data from unauthorized access.
PGP Encryption
PGP is a software encryption solution that provides whole disk and external disk encryption for Windows and Mac OS X computers. Whole disk and external disk encryption is a solution for protecting all data on an entire desktop or laptop by securing disk contents, automatically safeguarding sensitive data from unauthorized access.

Pricing
FDE and PGP are funded by network recharge, there is no additional charge for these services.
Availability
Once installed, Symantec Endpoint Protection, FDE, and PGP are available for use at all times. Support for these products however, are limited to normal business hours.
