UCSFwpa User Guide for iPhone

Setting up a UCSFwpa wireless network profile on your iPhone is easy.

These instructions assume that you are already familiar with how to operate your iPhone.

  1. From the main menu, choose the Settings function.

If Wi-Fi on your phone is turned on, jump to step 7.

  1. If Wi-Fi is turned off, select the Wi-Fi function from the Settings options.

  1. Click the Wi-Fi OFF button to toggle it to ON.

Once your Wi-Fi function is turned on, your iPhone will scan for available wireless networks.

There are a couple of ways that your iPhone may function, depending on how you have the Wi-Fi function set up.

  • If the "Ask to Join Networks" option is turned on, you will be prompted to join the UCSFwpa network.
  • If this option is turned off, you will see the message, "Not Connected," and you will have to choose to connect to the UCSFwpa network.
  1. To choose a Wi-Fi network, select the Wi-Fi function from the Settings option

  1. Once you see the list of available networks, select the UCSFwpa network.

  1. You will be prompted for a Username and Password:
    • enter your MyAccess or mail@UCSF* username and password in their respective fields;
    • Click the Join button to connect to start your wireless connection.

*Also known as an Active Directory (AD)/computer logon account.

When first joining the UCSFwpa wireless network, you will receive a prompt to verify the Certificate.

  1. Confirm that the certificate listed is as: ucsfwpa.ucsf.edu
  2. If so, click the Accept button. If not (you are attempting to join a different network), click the Cancel button

When you have successfully authenticated, the UCSFwpa network will be blue and have a checkmark next to it. This indicates which wireless network you are connected to.

  1. Click the Settings button, to return to the Settings menu.

Once back on the Setting menu, The Wi-Fi icon will appear at the top of your screen indicating that you are connecting via Wi-Fi, and UCSFwpa will be listed next to the Wi-Fi status area.

  1. Congratulations! You are connected to the UCSFwpa wireless network.
  2. Click the Home button to get back to the Main menu
