UCSFwpa User Guide for Windows Vista

To successfully connect to the UCSFwpa wireless network,
customers with PC's running the Windows Vista Operating System must configure a
profile using the Network and Sharing control panel prior to attempting a
connection to the wireless network.
|
|
|
- From the Start menu, go to Control Panels and
open the Network and Internet control panel;
- From the Network and Internet control panel, click
the link to Manage wireless networks;
- In the Manage wireless networks window, clickthe
Add button.
|
|
|

|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
- At the "How do you want to add a network?"
prompt, click "Manually create a network profile".
|
|
|

|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
- Enter the following wireless network information:
- In the Network name field, enter UCSFwpa;
- For the Security type field, choose "WPA2-Enterprise" from
the drop-down menu;
- For the Encryption type field, choose "AES" from the
drop-down menu;
- Click the Next button to continue.

|
You have successfully added the UCSFwpa wireless network profile.

Click "Change connection settings" to update the
profile properties.
|
|
|

|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
- Click the Security tab and configure the following
settings:
- For network authentication method, choose "Microsoft Protected EAP
(PEAP)" from the drop-down menu;
- Click the Settings button to continue.
|
|
|

|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
- In the Protected EAP properties window, click on the
"validate server certificate" checkbox;

Click the "configure..." button next to the
"Secured password..." pull-down menu.
|
|
|

|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
- In the EAP MSCHAPv2 Properties window, uncheck the box to
"Automatically use my Windows logon name and password”;

Click the OK button.

|

|
|
|
|
|
|
|

Click OK 3 times to save UCSFwpa configuration.
A balloon indicating that additional information is needed to connect to
UCSFwpa will pop-up from the task bar in the lower right-hand corner of your
screen.

Click on the pop-up balloon.

|

|
|
- At the Logon Screen:
- enter your MyAccess or mail@UCSF* username and password;
- leave the Logon domain field blank;
- click the OK button.
*Also known as an Active Directory (AD)/computer logon account.

|
|
|
|
- In the Set Network Location screen, choose Work.
|
|
|

|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
If Windows User Account Control (UAC) is enabled on the computer, there will
be a pop-up requesting permission to configure UCSFwpa.

Click Continue.

|
|
|
|
|
Congratulations! You are now connected to the UCSFwpa wireless network. You
can close all Wireless Networking Control Panel windows.
